Family Fun for the May Half Term

There are lots of events happening in Suffolk over the May bank holiday and half term week.

For family fun, step back in time at Ickworth House’s “Living History” event, take a “Horrible History” walk through Ipswich, join the King and Queen Academy at Framlingham Castle, or take a tour around the Gruesome Graves at Sutton Hoo – site of an Anglo-Saxon ship burial.

If you’re staying in Southwold, why not take a tour of the Lighthouse to get a bird’s eye view of this beautiful, heritage resort. Don’t miss the Lion’s Fete on Southwold Common or the Model Yacht Regatta at the Boating Lake – both taking place on the Bank Holiday Monday. Later in the week Southwold hosts its annual 3 day Charter Fair.

Further afield, don’t miss the last week of the Suffolk Walking Festival. Take a beautiful countryside walk of the Stour Valley, follow in the footsteps of Benjamin Britten or discover the beautifully preserved Wool Town of Lavenham in the heart of Suffolk.

If you’re interested in wildlife, there are plenty of activities organised by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust including Bushcraft for Beginners at Carlton Marshes, a Spring celebration at Bradfield Woods or a visit to Dingle Marshes near Dunwich to view a variety of wildlife and migrant birds.
