The charming seaside town of Aldeburgh on the Suffolk Coast is gearing up for incredible season of events. Choose from world class concert performances on the beach – celebrating the centenary of Benjamin Britten, to an exciting season of plays care of Jill Freud’s Summer Theatre at Jubilee Hall.

Peter Grimes on the Beach: Britten 100 Celebrations Venue: Aldeburgh Beach 17th, 19th and 21st June 2013The centenary of Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) will be marked by special events all over the world, but will be particularly celebrated in Aldeburgh where the composed worked and lived for most of his life. “Peter Grimes”, Britten’s powerful masterpiece, tells the story of a Fisherman who is an outsider in “the Borough” - a fictionalised version of Aldeburgh.
This performance will prove to be an unforgettable experience that places the audience directly in the story’s setting – on the beach, taking in the atmosphere as dusk falls over the North Sea. 60s by The Sea - Free Concert in aid of Aldeburgh RNLI. Venue: Aldeburgh Beach, opposite The White Lion Hotel 6th July 2013. Aldeburgh Summer Theatre Venue: Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh.Jill Freud’s Theatre Company, is well known for staging original and quirky plays in Southwold and Aldeburgh with previous performances having included Agatha Christie’s Love from a Stranger, The Curse of Dracula and Thomas Hardy’s Far From the Madding Crowd. Performances take place in St Edmund’s Hall, Southwold and in Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh.

Aldeburgh Carnival & Regatta, 17-18 August 2013The Aldeburgh Carnival & Regatta weekend will prove to be another fun-filled, family event and will include land and water based races, competitions, funfair rides, and interesting stalls in the Carnival Village. A full programme of entertainment will again be featured including Samba Dancers, a Military Band and the magical lanterns procession. As per tradition, this fantastic Aldeburgh weekend will be rounded off by a show-stopping firework display on the beach.
