William Walton's “Façade” and Constant Lambert's “Piano Concerto for Piano and Nine Instruments” will be performed at the following Suffolk venues in late June:
St Edmund's Church (first half) and St Edmund's Hall, Southwold (second half) - Saturday June 29th 2013Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh - Sunday June 30th 2013
Facade is a unique and entertaining piece, setting Edith Sitwell's eccentric poetry to a recital of 1920s dance numbers. The Concerto by Constant Lambert - a close friend of Walton - sits perfectly alongside Façade, with its jazz influences.
Having been close friends with Walton himself, Humphrey Burton and Claire Bloom will bring a wealth of experience to their roles. The solo part in Lambert’s Concerto will be performed by distinguished pianist David Owen Norris, a specialist in 20th century British repertoire.
Tickets for either of these events are £15. To book, contact the Southwold Concert Series box office on tel: 01502 726 161.
