Southwold Beachwatch Beach Clean

Suffolk Secrets and Southwold Lettings are proud to take part in an annual Beachwatch beach clean, to help preserve the beautiful Suffolk coastline which we all love.
Staff from all three of our offices ventured out on Tuesday 24th September to pick up litter on an area of beach north of Southwold Pier.
Working in pairs, one member of staff collected, identified and disposed of litter, whilst the other team member filled in a form to record what had been found.
Items discarded on the beach included a substantial amount of polystyrene pieces, a cigarette lighter, plastic food containers, crisp/sweet wrappers, scrap metal, fishing line and plastic shopping bags. A very large jerry can was also found wedged in between some rocks by Oli Mummery, our Property Recruiter. (See picture below).
At the end of our litter-picking session, Jonathan Bryant from our Southwold office collated all of our findings onto a master Beachwatch Survey Sheet. This is forwarded to the Marine Conservation Society for research and monitoring purposes.
The Beachwatch Nationwide Beach Clean is coordinated by the Marine Conservation Society (MSC) and celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
Quirky Fact:Some very usual items found on beaches in previous Beachwatch events around the world include a plastic skeleton, a live rocket parachute flare and a life-size fake donkey.
