To celebrate the Britten Centenary Weekend, there will be a BBC Singers concert at St Edmund’s Church in Field Stile Road, Southwold on Sunday 24th November 2013. This concert will be broadcast live on Radio 3.
The Suffolk-born composer's birthday fell on St Cecilia’s Day and Britten had a strong desire to write a piece of music in praise of St Cecilia’s Day - Patron Saint of Music. Therefore "Hymn to St Cecilia” features on Sunday's programme:-
