Have you run out of gin over the festive period? Perhaps you'd like to learn how to make your own at Southwold's Copper House Distillery?

Think of the seaside town of Southwold and you’ll possibly conjure up images of summer holidays by the sea, an iconic lighthouse, colourful beach huts and a traditional pier.

Adnams is also a name synonymous with Southwold but did you know that this famous Suffolk brewery has been running a micro distillery for the past few years?

Southwold’s Copper House Distillery now produces a range of spirits which includes an award winning gin, infused with a special blend of aromatic botanicals. Made with malted barley sourced locally in East Anglia, Adnams' gin achieved a Gold Outstanding medal at the 2013 International Wine and Spirit Competition.

Visitors can now visit the Copper House distillery and learn to make their own bottle of gin at one of Adnams’ exclusive Make Your Own Gin Experience courses.

The course costs £70 per person and includes a tour of the Copper House Distillery with one of Adnams’ master distillers. You will then be guided through the process of crafting your own 70cl bottle of gin and learn to select the correct blend of botanicals including cardamom, sweet orange peel and juniper berries, that are used to flavour the spirit.

Make Your Own Gin Experience courses commence at 2.30pm and must be booked in advance by calling 01502 727 225.

2014 course dates

December: Tuesday 31st

January: Friday 24th

February: Friday 7th, Saturday 15th, Friday 21st

March: Saturday 1st, Friday 7th, Friday 21st

This course could be an ideal activity for one of your loved ones during a short break in Southwold.
