Suffolk is a wonderful destination for a short break during off-peak months. There are many beautiful coastal locations to discover including Dunwich, Aldeburgh and Southwold – all of which are a joy to explore without the summer crowds. Experience bracing walks along the coastal path, followed by a hearty lunch in a charming Suffolk pub.
Maybe you’d like to discover historic Suffolk and the heart of this beautiful county. With its ancient, medieval merchants’ houses, award winning restaurants and bountiful farmers markets, Lavenham offer a fascinating glimpse into an historic and prosperous textile industry. Other charming “wool towns” in this area include Kersey and Long Melford, which is home to two grand homes - Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall.
Woodbridge is an attractive market town and is an ideal location for a weekend away. It has many historic buildings centred around Market Hill. Woodbridge also has an excellent choice of formal and informal eateries, a wonderful selection of independent shops and has some beautiful walks which follow the banks of the River Deben. It is easily reached by train and there are regular services from London Liverpool Street station to Woodbridge. Just remember to change trains at Ipswich.
