Orford Castle is a fascinating heritage attraction to visit for all budding knights and history buffs.

King Henry II chose the Suffolk coastal village of Orford as the location to build a castle in the mid 1100s. The original castle keep was surrounded by a curtain wall and cost £1,413 to build. Today it offers a fascinating insight into life inside a fortified building.  If you manage to climb every step to the very top of the castle, you’ll be rewarded with some truly breath-taking views of the Suffolk coast, the River Ore and Orfordness shingle spit.
