If you’re searching for a beautiful destination in which to have a cultural holiday or short break, Lavenham could be the perfect base for you. Lavenham is probably one of the best preserved towns known as the Suffolk Wool Towns. Lavenham boasts over 290 historic, listed buildings and is famous for its black timber-framed medieval houses that lean over its narrow streets.

Due to its rich farming traditions and wealthy trade of textiles and other goods, Lavenham was one of the wealthiest settlements in England during Henry VIII’s reign. Wealthy merchants bought striking homes in Lavenham and you can still see many fine examples of these buildings in the high street and market place.

To learn more about the history of Lavenham, visit Lavenham Guildhall and Little Hall. These two heritage attractions both offer a fascinating insight into the lives of Lavenham’s former townspeople, farmers and merchants.

Suffolk Secrets offers a wonderful choice of holiday cottages in Lavenham. Our cottages have all been quality assessed and graded by VisitEngland, including Stone Cottage which has achieved a 5 star grading.  Stone Cottage boasts one of the best views in Lavenham as it overlooks the market place and Guildhall.
