The Suffolk Sky at Night - Stargazing Event

In conjunction with the BBC’s Stargazing Live broadcasts, Suffolk is hosting its very own stargazing event this weekend. This is a free event supported by Dark Sky Discovery, and will take place on the evening of Saturday 11th January at the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve (NNR).
The longer winter months offer ideal stargazing conditions and this event will hopefully prove to be a fantastic opportunity for all budding Patrick Moores (weather permitting). View a number of different planets and constellations through a variety of telescopes, alongside a friendly and knowledgeable team of astrophysicists and PhD students.
The Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve comprises three reserves: Dingle Marshes, Walberswick and Hen Reedbeds. The Suffolk stargazing event will be held at the Walberswick reserve between 5.30pm and 7.30pm this Saturday (Westwood Lodge, Lodge Road, Walberswick). All are welcome to this free event but prior booking is essential by calling Debs Crawford on 07584 475 482.
It is advisable to wear sturdy waterproof boots (or wellies) and waterproof clothing and bring a torch with you. Meet at car park grid reference: TM468737/ Suffolk IP18 6UP. The stargazing site is 100 metres up the track from the car park.
