Freston is a charming Suffolk village, located in the north west of the Shotley Peninsula – a beautiful area framed by the River Orwell to the north and River Stour to the south. The Shotley Peninsular offers many peaceful walking trails and is well known for hosting the annual Thames Barge Sailing Match, organised by the Pin Mill Sailing Club.
Lodge Farm in Freston offers an ideal base from which to explore the Shotley Peninsular and for visiting Jimmy’s Farm (owned by TV celebrity chef Jimmy Doherty), The Butt and Oyster pub in Pin Mill and The Suffolk Food Hall in Wherstead.

SUFFOLK FOOD HALL
The Suffolk Food Hall stocks an extensive range of locally sourced fruit and vegetables and also offers a selection of home-baked cakes, biscuits, marinades, specialist oils, local beers and fine wines. The premises also includes a café, The Cookhouse Restaurant, artisan bakery, butchery counter, fishmongers, delicatessen and Chrbonnel et Walker Chocolatier. The Suffolk Food Hall also hosts many events and workshops including cake-decorating, floristry and school holiday activities.
PIN MILL WALKS
Located on the Shotley peninsula, Pin Mill has been the subject of many artists’ paintings over the years and is also famous for being the setting of many adventures penned in Arthur Ransome’s “We Didn't Mean To Go To Sea". Arthur Ransome may be better known for his classic "Swallows and Amazons”.
