Spring Walks through RSPB Minsmere

RSPB Minsmere is situated near Dunwich within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Natural Beauty (AONB),and a short drive from our cottages in Westleton and Southwold.
There are lots of beautiful birds to look out for including Bewick’s swans, great crested grebes, teal ducks, peregrines, barn and short-eared owls, marsh harrier and re-throated divers. If you’re lucky, you may also see otters on the Island Mere.
The following walks are guided by RSPB staff and it is advisable that you wear waterproofs and wellington boots at this time of year. We advise that you call 01728 RSPB Minsmere in advance (tel: 01728 648281), to check on weather and track conditions.
Weekend Wildlife Walk at RSPB Minsmere9.30am - 12.30 (approx 3 hours), Sunday 9th March, Saturday 15th, Sunday 23rd and Saturday 29 March 2014. A guided walk through the beautiful RSPB Minsmere landscape looking out for wildlife, flora, fauna and a variety of spring birds.Cost: £5 for adults and £2.50 for children (must be aged 8 or above) plus normal entry fees. RSPB Members go free. Advance bookings advisable by calling advance by phoning 01728 648281.
Health Walks11.00am on Tuesdays: 25 March and 22 April 2014. A walk to calm the soul, taking in reedbeds, woodland and coastal views.This is a wheelchair and buggy friendly route. Cost: free but normal admission fees apply. RSPB Members go free.
If you do not live locally and wish to take a short break or holiday nearby, you can actually stay within the RSPB Minsmere itself at Scott’s Hall Cottage.
Many visitors who are interested in wildlife, walking and bird watching in Suffolk also choose to stay in Dunwich which is approximately 3 miles away from Minsmere and close to the National Trust managed Dunwich Coast and Heaths reserve.
