RSPB Minsmere will host the 10th Anniversary of BBC Springwatch

Situated on the beautiful Suffolk Coast within a designated AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), RSPB Minsmere near Dunwich is currently gearing up to host the 10th anniversary series of BBC Springwatch which will be broadcast from 26th May 2014.

This wonderful Suffolk RSPB reserve is a sanctuary to many different wildlife species including bittern, otters, marsh harriers, red deer, butterflies, avocets, badger and various migrant birds. Reserve Manager, Adam Rowlands, has promised BBC viewers a "jam-packed series" due to the site's rich biodiversity.

RSPB Minsmere is a fantastic natural attraction for the whole family to visit offering a variety of facilities including a Wild Zone, visitor centre and nature trails. On the 26th May 2014, the reserve will welcome regular BBC Springwatch presenters Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games in addition to former Springwatch presenter Bill Oddie.

RSPB Minsmere is one of the richest areas for wildlife in the UK with more than 5,600 species on site and the BBC Springwatch wildlife crew have been carefully rigging up cameras on the reserve's lagoon over the last few weeks in a series of specially-built hides. Cameras will also be carefully placed around the nests of oystercatchers, terns, lapwings and avocets allowing live footage of the birds as they feed and care for their young chicks.

RSPB Minsmere’s resident family of badgers will also be filmed using high spec night-vision cameras which will allow an insight in to their lives, both above and below ground.

Springwatch returns to BBC Two at 8pm from Monday to Thursday night, 26th May to 12th June 2014.
