The historic, riverside town of Woodbridge, is about to celebrate one of the world's favourite aphrodisiacs at its annual Shuck Festival, 3-5 October 2014.
Now its 3rd year, this salty-dog of a festival celebrates the abundance of delicious seafood and shellfish on offer in this area of Suffolk. In particular, the Shuck festival pays homage to the delicious River Deben oysters which are farmed by Simpers of Suffolk, a Woodbridge family business.
During the Shuck Festival weekend, expect to enjoy myriad mouth-watering offerings and events including an Oyster & Champagne Bar, historical talks, live entertainment, crabbing competitions, cookery demos, a Seafood Safari Super and possibly a rendition or two of some catchy sea shanties.
The star attraction of the festival is the jaw-droppingly delicious 5 course seafood menu on offer at the Shuck Shack Restaurant, a pop-up event taking place at the iconic Woodbridge Tide Mill.
The team here at Suffolk Secrets wish the organisers and sponsors all the best for yet another successful festival!

The Aphrodisiac Myth
The myth surrounding oysters supposedly being an aphrodisiac could be due to the high levels of amino acids found within this shellfish, which is said to trigger increased levels of sex hormones. Oysters also have high levels of zinc which is said to aid production of testosterone.
