Prime Position in Southwold

Having lived in Reydon for all of my childhood, Southwold holds many fond memories for me. Despite so many changes to the town itself over the past ten years, one of the streets I can visualise in the same way when I was six to now, twenty years later, is the captivating Pier Avenue.

As a child we used to walk in the summer from our house in Reydon across Mights Bridge and down Pier Avenue to our final destination, the beach. The street seemed miles long when I was smaller and the houses seemed taller and much more dominating. I was so intrigued by all the different shapes, sizes and colours - I even imagined it was the land where kings and queens lived.

Pier Avenue has a range of detached and semi-detached houses, bungalows and a few apartments. The beginning of the road features many 1930s style semi-detached houses and the further along you go there’s a mix of Edwardian houses and 1970s upside-down style houses.

There’s no doubt the location is one of the best in the town with easy access to all Southwold’s charms such as The Pier, beach, putting green, boating lake, Church, shops, pubs and restaurants. The Blyth Hotel is perched at the beginning of Pier Avenue.

For smaller parties there is Sea View, an apartment sleeping four people towards the Pier end with views across Easton Bavents and beyond. It benefits from having parking for one car, so once you’ve settled there’s really no need to use the car again until your departure day!

Blackbird Cottage is a newly renovated semi-detached cottage, a popular choice with many of our guests. It has a beautiful garden in which to relax in the sunshine.

New to the portfolio you can find Sea Mist which is a cosy bungalow in a quiet cul-de-sac just off the middle section of Pier Avenue. Even a local like me didn’t know it was there, so if you’re looking for a quiet retreat then Sea Mist is for you.

Flying Goose is a great family house in Pier Avenue and on the corner of St Edmunds Road, therefore providing great access to St Edmunds Church and Tibby’s Green for the kids. It also offers a full Sky package (a blessing when the great British weather descends upon us!), Wi-Fi and is pet friendly.

Bada Bing is nearly opposite Flying Goose and is a traditional 1930s semi-detached cottage. Inside the property’s interiors are of the highest standard. There is a huge lawn and decked area at the rear of the property perfect for summer dining.

Situated along the same side of the Avenue as Bada Bing is Tynewold, a much loved large Edwardian house perfect for larger families or groups of friends. The spacious kitchen provides a perfect area for cooking up a feast and there is a large garden for everyone to enjoy.

Chicago Beach Villa is located in the middle section of Pier Avenue thus giving the best of both worlds, being within equal distance of both the shops on the High Street and the beach. Chicago Beach Villa has always been popular with our customers and has recently undergone a kitchen refurbishment.

Towards the end of Pier Avenue we have Arva, Beech House, The Lollypop House and Marram House, all larger properties best suited to family get-togethers. Arva and Beech House are 1970s upside down style and the homeowners have sympathetically renovated these properties to make them ideal for holidays. Arva can accommodate up to six guests and Beech House can accommodate up to eight guests. Both have private parking and are just a few paces to the beach.

If you’re looking for a touch of luxury, our 5* Lollypop House would be the ideal choice. Recently renovated with everything you could wish for being provided, the property is located on the right-hand side a few yards away from The Pier. The well-equipped kitchen is packed full of top of the range appliances and there are four bedrooms and also four bathrooms.

Marram House is a large property set back of the street with many traditional features throughout. Sleeping up to thirteen guests this holiday property is ideally suited to families – be quick if you want to book though as dates tend to sell fast!
