Now known as Charter Fair, The Southwold Fair or Trinity Fair as it was traditionally named, is traditionally held on the three days following Trinity Sunday (eight weeks after Easter). This year, the fair will open on the 28th May and close on 31st May 2015.

The opening of the fair normally takes place on the Monday morning, and traditionally, the Mayor of Southwold and the Town Councillors make a procession around the fairground on South Green, before taking a ride on one of the fairground attractions. Historically, the Merry-Go-Round was the ride of choice, but today the Mayor and Councillors prefer the dodgems! The Town Clerk then reads the Fair Charter in three different places around Southwold including on the Green and in the Market Place.

(The fair will arrive to set up on Sunday 24 and Monday 25 May 2015).
