Walking in Snape

Snape in Suffolk is a desired location for walking, cycling and much more, with the Snape Maltings complex appealing to locals and visitors alike. We have listed below a fabulous Snape walk which begins from the Plough and Sail pub (just before Snape Maltings) and concludes at Snape Maltings - a circular walk which is most popular. Things You Need To Know

Distance = 2 miles.

Grounds = Fairly flat under foot, part of the route does flow onto a minor public road. There is also one stile.

Pets = If you’re bringing a dog please ensure farm animals and wildlife are not disturbed. Dogs should be kept on a lead.

Weather = Make sure you check the weather conditions before leaving – no one likes a wet walk unless we have to!

Begin Your Walk

From the Plough and Sail pub at Snape Maltings cross the Snape Bridge and then turn right onto the grass embankment with the River Alde on your right. This walk follows the north bank of the river until it reaches Snape Warren.

Here you need to turn left, following a path through the wood for approximately 275 yards, before turning left again. Continue through the marshland to the village of Snape.

You will eventually reach the crossroads in the village. Here you need to turn left and follow the road which will take you back to Snape Maltings.
