What could be more romantic than a getaway to Suffolk for Valentine’s Day with your loved one? With the stunning scenery, breathtakingly-beautiful beaches and unspoilt countryside, there’s so much to fall in love with in Suffolk…
Choosing the perfect Suffolk location for your Valentines break is key. For the ultimate ‘get away from it all’ experience with your significant other our Suffolk countryside cottages can provide the best remedy. For couple’s wanting to ‘shop ‘til you drop’ the popular market town of Woodbridge is the ideal place for retail therapy. For beachside holidays and romantic walks we highly recommend Southwold, Aldeburgh or Felixstowe – not only do they have sandy beaches but there is also an abundance of shops and pubs to explore! Don’t forget to experience the great outdoors along the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area and discover Suffolk’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in idyllic locations such as Dunwich, Westleton and Minsmere.
There are so many places to visit during your romantic weekend break. Here are some of our favourite things to do on your Valentines break:
Southwold: A daytime walk along Southwold beach and a quick stop for Afternoon Tea at The Boating Lake Tearoom.Aldeburgh: Dine out at The Lighthouse Restaurant prior to heading to Aldeburgh Cinema to catch a film (The Lighthouse Restaurant also provides a pre-cinema menu).Dunwich: Dunwich forest is ideal for keen walkers – don’t forget to stop at The Beach Café for fish and chips afterwards.Snape Maltings: For the perfect day out in one destination Snape Maltings has all you could need. There are nine independent shops, a tea shop, food hall, pub lunches and much more.Woodbridge: The shops here are fantastic for present buying or simply treating yourself! Our favourites include The Happiness Store and 10 Church Street. Take advantage of the great range of eateries Woodbridge offers such as The Table and The Cooks Shed – brand new and highly recommended!Felixstowe: A day trip to Felixstowe is ideal for the beach but don’t forget to visit Landguard Fort! From 13th February 2016 there are various trails taking place throughout the site suitable for all ages. Have a look at our Events Calendar for more information on this event.Orford: Take a river trip across seven miles of unspoilt river, departing from Orford Quay – absolutely perfect for couples! Enjoy the amazing sights passing Orford Castle and the RSPB Bird reserve (please note river trips are subject to weather conditions). Stop by at the famous Pump Street Bakery afterwards for a tasty treat.
