2016 Home Décor Trends

Published: Friday 26th Aug 2016

2016 has been a year of exciting new trends taking centre stage of some former décor traditions we have so lovingly abided by. We’ve listed some of our favourites below.

Grey Is No Longer Gloomy

Not just a global blockbuster - shades of grey have really taken over the world of interior design. With so many variations it’s easy to see why we are incorporating this shade into our homes. Purples, whites, blues and browns can all be combined with grey palettes to create a special shade. Incorporate splashes of vibrant colour or keep it subtle and cooling.

Florals Are Flirty

Yes you heard correctly – floral are back! Refresh your home with bright, beautiful and bold floral prints. This trend can be implemented in so many different ways – a headboard, sofa, curtains and rugs.

Matte vs Metallic

Last season we saw metallic taking the centre stage now we’re making way for matte finishes in all things homely. Matte finishes look amazing on so many products - think kitchen units, light shades, living room furniture. So get the chalk paint out and upholster some of your old pieces. The best bit – mattes and metallics compliment each other well, so no need to scrap last season’s purchases!

Formal Dining – Fit For a King

Dining with all the family and hosting dinner parties are a big part of life, so it’s great to hear formal dining rooms are making a comeback! Previous trends have seen dining rooms being converted into other handy rooms or knocked through into kitchens for open plan dining, but there’s something rather endearing about having a room dedicated to meal times together.
