The winter season has arrived in Suffolk so it’s time to pop on a double layer of socks, a parka, hat, scarves and gloves because it’s time to enjoy the great outdoors.

Despite the change in climate winter is a great time of year to enjoy the best of Suffolk. You may just fancy a spontaneous weekend away, a quiet break in the countryside or a busy week sightseeing along the coast. Attend a Christmas FairChristmas isn’t too far away and there are some fabulous craft fairs taking place across the county for Christmas shopping opportunities. Many of the fairs offer local goods and crafts only available in Suffolk so don’t miss out on those unique gifts for your loved ones. We highly recommend the Woodbridge Mammoth Street Fair and the Wickham Market Christmas Market.

Take a Tour of Adnams BreweryOn various dates throughout December Adnams will be holding their brewery tour days – the perfect time to discover their seasonal range of ales and Adnams classics. If spirits are more your kind of thing, you can also book in to the distillery tours. After each tour you can have a browse of the cellar and kitchen shop and discover various wines, kitchenware and gifts.

Visit RSPB MinsmereThere’s never a better time to discover how beautiful the RSPB Minsmere reserve is than this chilly season. On various weekends throughout December the reserve are hosting weekend walks where you can discover many different wildlife species all with the help of a RSPB guide. Children are also welcome.

Sample some Fish ‘n’ Chips!

With the endless television adverts featuring turkey, roast dinners and all things sweet, you may want switch off when it comes to food, but there’s no better time than to try some tasty fish ‘n’ chips for a change of scene! The capital of fish ‘n’ chips has to be Aldeburgh – make sure you visit The Aldeburgh Fish and Chip Shop and The Golden Galleon.

Paint some Pottery

If being outside in the cold isn’t your thing gather all the family and head over to Gallery Thea in Southwold and paint some pottery!  In the studio you can choose your item to paint from mugs to hanging decorations and turn your product into something beautiful.
