Ink Festival, The Cut, Halesworth – Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd April 2017Now in its third year INK Festival champions the best new scripts from East Anglian writers for a bumper weekend of over 25 new short stage productions, radio plays and films performed  in a variety of spaces all over  the renovated maltings which is now The Cut Theatre, Halesworth.

Easter Season at Snape Maltings – Friday 14th to Sunday 16th April Celebrate Easter with a varied programme of events at Snape Maltings.  Bach’s great St John Passion is given a dramatic chamber performance by Solomon’s Knot, the Marmen Quartet play meditative works by Bach, Beethoven and Philip Glass, while the cobwebs of winter are well and truly blown away by the power of the Britten–Pears Orchestra under the baton of inspirational American conductor Marin Alsop. They perform Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra and Britten’s Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra, which is repeated in a family concert on Easter Sunday.

Beccles Antiques Market – Sunday 30th April 8am until 4pmThis delightful market town on the banks of the River Waveney is home to a thriving Antiques Market.  The market plays host to a hundred general and specialist dealers selling a wide range of good quality antiques and collectables including furniture, silver, china, linen, jewellery, books, clocks, retro and vintage design and decorative items. First class local ‘street food’ catering is incorporated into the market, including a hog roast.

Sounds of Spring at RSPB Minsmere – 7.30am -9.30am, Various dates throughout AprilSpring is a fantastic time of year to enjoy the sights and sounds of RPSB Minsmere. From booming bitterns and warbling warblers to the delight of the nightingale’s song, enjoy a guided walk which will take you on a sound tour you won’t forget.  Suitable for beginners, these walks are a great opportunity to learn birdsong.  The walk will end with a light breakfast and hot drink in the café and Minsmere’s Visitor Centre.

Viking Pastimes at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village & Country Park - Saturday 15th to Monday 17th AprilWith extensive indoor galleries and a stunning recreation of an Anglo-Saxon village, West Stow is a fascinating and enjoyable day out for all the family. West Stow's remarkable wooden homes were rebuilt using ancient Anglo-Saxon methods on the exact sites of the original Anglo-Saxon settlement after extensive archaeological surveys. Over Easter weekend visitors to West Stow to can learn to play traditional Viking games and witness the 5th English National ‘Hnefatafl’ Championships, with Champion Tim Millar as tutor and judge!
