Top 5 Daddy Days Out in Suffolk

The following blog has been written by George our General Manager. Being a Father of two he spends many of his weekends with his family exploring local Suffolk attractions ideal for families. We hope you try out some of his recommendations! 

When you’re visiting Suffolk with your family it’s good to know you’ve got some choices whatever the weather. The beaches along the Suffolk coastline offer almost endless options for outdoor play and fun. As a Suffolk Dad with two little Suffolk bundles of joy (5 and 14 months), I’ve compiled some of my recommendations on things you might want to choose to do when you’re holidaying with us.

1. Pleasurewood Hills

Probably one of our family favourites, this park brings out the child in all of us. There’s not time to look at your iPhone here as this park combines traditional helter skelters, mini roller-coasters and dodgems with some more hair raising rides as well. The park has over 20 kiddie and family rides and enough white knuckle rides to keep older children entertained.  There’s a fantastic ski lift that takes you high above the park at a gentle pace and there is plenty on offer under cover if the weather isn’t too pleasant. Plenty of stops on the way round for places to eat and drink

Dad Rating 4 out of 5 - Well worth a visit and will bring back memories of simpler days! 

2. Easton Farm Park

It was probably inevitable that I chose a farm park as one of the recommendations. It was almost the first place we took our son when he was born. Blissfully unaware that newborns aren’t interested in petting ducks or riding pigs (not an actual option). However, once they’re at toddling stage and beyond this is a great place to explore. Easton has a really open layout which is ideal when allowing your little tinkers time to run off on their own. For those with tired legs, there are plenty of mini tractors and ride ons to be ridden or indeed pushed by Dad with a bad back and hunched shoulders. 

There is an interesting insight into farming in years gone by and some interactive activities. They also run a number of daily rides and demonstrations in the peak season. 

There’s an indoor soft play area and a bouncy pillow here which will help extend the day and plenty of high chairs available in the cafe. 

Dad Rating 3 out of 5 - Great for the younger ones. 

3. Carlton Fun Factory

This place is brand new and we haven't even explored it yet. Ideally located on the main road (A12)  through the Coastal area, and between Southwold and Aldeburgh, The Carlton Fun Factory promises much and from the reviews it delivers. Undercover entertainment options are important and this place is exactly that. 

They have a three storey play area to go with  an indoor football/basketball pitch. Plenty of seating and a menu to suit even the fussiest Dads.

4. Congo Rapids Lost World Adventure Golf

The downside of my Jurassic Park impression was that my children are way too good to understand it, but some of the other Dads we went with, really appreciated the clever humour involved in me flicking the bottom of my plastic cup of water to create ominous vibrations. 

Located in Ufford, near Woodbridge and just off the A12 this adventure golf park is truly prehistoric (in a good way). 18 holes of fun, a jeep, dinosaurs and wait for it, even a volcano, ensure this is a trip not to be missed.

5. Adnams Brewery Tour

Perhaps not the most traditional trip whilst on the family holiday, but I found that if I told my son he could have a Ninja Turtle toy from the Toy shop in Southwold he was actually quite attentive when we were learning about hops and malt. 

If you can't persuade your little ones to join you, its a great place to have a break from parental duties and it ends with some beer tasting.
