Your Guide to an Easter to Remember in Suffolk

Easter is a beautiful time of year in Suffolk. The days begin to get longer and warmer, our countryside is full of new life with lambing season in full swing, and seas of daffodils are all around our luscious landscapes. A new lease of life seems to sweep over the county as visitors and locals get excited for the long summer ahead. Whether you choose the coast or countryside, we have a holiday cottage that is sure to fit the needs of the whole family on your Easter break. There's also plenty of goings on around Easter time with exciting events taking place all over the county. Although hard to choose, here's a list of our top picks... 

Eastertide at Kentwell Hall

From Friday 30th March until Monday 2nd of April, Eastertide takes place at Kenwell Hall and is their most popular event of the year. Whatever the weather, the event will continue right through the day as many of the activities take place inside. Over 100 Tudors will be in the manor, carrying out a day similar to what the hall would see in the 1500's. The bakehouse will be busy baking hot cross buns and all the proceeds of the buns go to the Macmillan Cancer Support. Children can enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt where wooden eggs will be hidden all around the manor, each with a code that can be used to solve a puzzle. The infamous 'The Impossible Easter Quiz' is a great challenge for the whole family, and the winner will receive a huge chocolate egg. Along with all of the fun Easter goings on, Kentwell Hall has beautiful grounds, gardens and a farm. Enjoy walking amongst the daffodils and snowdrops and say hello to the year's lambs, chicken and piglets.  

Easter Lunch in a Suffolk Secrets Holiday Cottage

All of Suffolk Secret's holiday cottages are self-catering and therefore come with kitchens full of all the kitchen amenities you'd need to cook up a tasty Easter Sunday lunch. The Suffolk Countryside is home to a wealth of farmland, so your Easter lunch can be brimming with local and tasty ingredients. A traditional Easter Lunch is a roast lamb with yummy roast potatoes, fennel & onion and rosemary, foods that be found in many of Suffolk's independent shops such as Friday Street Farm near Snape and Wangford Farm Shop near Southwold. Enjoy Easter Sunday with your family enjoying good food around a dining table which our holiday cottages always provide and fill up on those yummy chocolate eggs.   

Maisebrooke Farm Easter Fair

Located on Maisebrooke Farm in Beccles is the annual Easter Fair, a fun-filled day for all of the family with beautiful Suffolk countryside surroundings and just a stone's throw from the market town of Beccles. Taking place on the 15th of April, the farm will be open for an egg hunt, bbq, bouncy castle and lots more fun activities. As well as all the Easter fun, the farm will be open for animals encounters with the newly born sheep, pigs, chickens, wild boars and goats. The event is free for children, with a small charge to partake in the egg hunt, and admission for adults is £1.00. 

Easter at the Heritage Centre

Palace House in Newmarket is a 5-acre national heritage centre for horse racing and sporting art and includes three attractions; National Horseracing Museum in the Trainer’s House and King’s Yard Galleries, Packard Galleries of British Sporting Art in Palace House, and a chance to meet former racehorses in the flagship home of Retraining of Racehorses. Along with there usually attractions, the palace with be hosting some Easter goings on from the 30th March until the 2nd April. Children can enjoy the likes of the craft pod, where they can design their very own egg cup, discover the Easter trail around the galleries and pick up an Easter basket from the pantry bakery and then enjoy the picnic in the yard alongside the palaces donkeys!
