Things are hotting up here in Suffolk and summer is well underway. With many amazing events in the pipeline, the county is a hub of activity with a diverse range of things to do in some beautiful locations. Whether you’re a musical sponge, dog lover or art enthusiast, there’s really something for anyone at any age. Take a look below are some of our top picks.

Maverick Festival 2018
Friday 6th - Sunday 8th July
The Maverick Festival is a celebration of Americana and roots music from both sides of the Atlantic right here in Suffolk. This child and dog-friendly festival is set amongst the picturesque Victorian farm buildings of Easton Farm Park where artists mix with the spectators and the campsite is filled with impromptu jam sessions. The festival is an eclectic mix of music, comedy, dance, film & workshops across six stages indoors and out. Music begins on Friday at 5pm and runs until around 11:30pm, Saturday 11am-11:30pm and Sunday 10:30am-14:30pm.

Exotic Flower Crown Workshop
Saturday 7th July
Flower crowns symbolise love and celebration, and with Festival Season just around the corner, you'll want to have yours at the ready. Dandelion and Bloom will help create your bespoke Crown with an exotic twist at Urban Jungle Suffolk in Beccles. Chose from forever faux flowers that will last a lifetime or fabulously fresh florals designed for a short-term, serious statement-piece, or you can even combine a mixture of the two styles. Each Crown will be a handmade, one-of-a-kind, using a mixture of carefully sourced tropical bright colours, traditional blooms and foliage. During the workshop, Dandelion and Bloom will help you get that festival look with beautiful facial glitter designs, using vegan, biodegradable and cruelty-free sparkles. Rejuvenate midway through with a scrumptious 'cake break', with teas and coffees and sweet treats included. Tickets cost £50.
Latitude Festival 2018
12th - 15th July
Fast becoming one of England’s favourite summer festivals, Latitude is returning to the beautiful Suffolk coastal area for its twelfth time. This fabulous, multi-arts festival and winner of last years 'Best Major Festival', will return to the beautiful Henham Park estate near Southwold. Outdoor Cinema at Kenton Hall Estate
Friday 13th - Saturday 14th July
Enjoy watching some classic films in the beautiful grounds of Kenton Hall Estate. On Friday night, the hall will be screening The Italian Job, the British comedy crime classic starring Harry Kane, and on the Saturday Four Weddings and a Funeral, a beloved movie of comedy gold. Other facilities include; free on-site car parking, un-interrupted screen viewing, disabled access, WC facilities hot food, popcorn and ice cream, and a fully licensed bar. Tickets per night cost £12.

Britten Youth String Orchestra
Saturday 21st July at 7 pm
The Britten Youth String Orchestra from The Netherlands will perform a free evening concert of music for strings at St Bartholomew’s Church, Orford. The orchestra was founded in 2007 by their conductor, violinist and acclaimed conductor Loes Visser. Its aim is to provide a platform for talented young string players to develop their musical skills in an inspiring, high-level and musically demanding environment. For this concert, they will perform a programme of beautiful music for strings by Warlock, Rachmaninov, Berlin, Grieg, Bloch and Shostakovich. The performance starts at 7 pm and entrance is free, with a retiring collection towards the church.

Felixstowe Carnival
Friday 27th - Saturday 29th July
Visit Felixstowe and enjoy the annual Felixstowe Carnival! Founded over 60 years ago, this fun affair will make way for live music, trade stands, family entertainment, competitions and fireworks. Don't miss the traditional procession which takes place on the Saturday from 1 pm from the top of Colneis Road into Beatrice Avenue.
Suffolk Dog Day
Sunday 29th July
From Westies to Bloodhounds, Poodles to Corgis, there's so much tail-waggingly good fun to be had at the annual Suffolk Dog Day. From grooming tips to sheepdog trials, puppy training to demonstrations, this fabulous event is simply pooch-heaven! The Suffolk Dog Day is set against the magnificent backdrop of Suffolk’s beautiful Helmingham Hall Estate. Incorporating the historic moated 16th-century Helmingham Hall, a 400-acre deer park, walled kitchen garden and various picturesque gardens designed by Lady Xa Tollemache, the Suffolk Dog Day offers a fantastic day out for the whole family. Refreshments are available onsite at The Coach House Tearooms.
Snape Proms
1st – 31st August
The Snape Proms return for a whole month in August at the unique venue of Snape Maltings. A vibrant smorgasbord, the line-up includes music ranging from classical to folk to jazz. From big bands and orchestras to folk groups and solo artists, there's music for everyone at the Snape Proms. Throw in an entertaining sprinkle of comedy, poetry and workshops and you've got a fantastic festival to suit all tastes (and ears!). FolkEast
Friday 17th – Sunday 19th August
Placed in the beautiful grounds of Glemhall Hall, Suffolk is FolkEast, a festival of folk and world music. Nominated for the Best Small Festival Award in the UK Festival Awards, FolkEast is a quirky, eclectic, and family-friendly festival - all set within the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Aldeburgh Carnival 2018
Saturday 18th - Monday 20th August
Crowned the family tourism event of the year at the Norfolk and Suffolk Tourism awards, Aldeburgh Carnival is an amazing weekend packed full of stalls, processions, performances and fireworks. The firework display on Monday evening is particularly impressive and is enjoyed by carnival goers on Aldeburgh Beach. The carnival is also known for its lantern procession, which begins in the town square and ends on the beach. Get your lanterns ready and embark on this fun-filled weekend.
