Summer may almost be over, but that doesn't mean there's not still plenty of things to do in Suffolk. With September being warm enough for outdoor events and October offering lots of Halloween goings-on, you can fill your September or October stay with lots of exciting Suffolk events that take place during these Autumnal months.

Walk with a Fork
Sunday 2nd September
Love eating? Love walking? Then why not visit Helmingham Hall for “Walk with a Fork". Walk with a Fork is a fundraising event organised by Ormiston Children & Families Trust.This year’s walk will return to Helmingham Hall in Suffolk and you’re invited to join in the fun with a stroll around this stunning country estate. Stop off along the way to sample delicious treats from some of Suffolk’s finest food and drink producers such as Alder Tree Ice Creams, Hillfarm Oils, Stokes Sauces, and Aspall Cider. Walk for Wildlife at Africa Alive
Saturday 8th September
Join Africa Alive for a great cause in September as they walk for wildlife. Walk around this beautiful park before it opens to the public with friends, family and the Africa Alive team. There are two routes, a 1 mile (1.6km) route taking in Lemur Islands, and a 1.6 mile (2.6km) route taking in the new pathway behind the Lake and the “Marsh” paddocks, both walks will start and finish at the Lion House. You can select whichever route you and your team members would like to do, or you can do both if you like and as many times as you want. Once you have finished your walk you can relax and enjoy the rest of your day in the Park at your leisure. Funds from this event will go directly to the Save the Rhino International (STRI) project operating in South Africa’s Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park where, in recent years, poaching has become a big problem.
HighTide Festival in Aldeburgh
11th - 16th September
The HighTide Festival returns to Aldeburgh, considered by The Times as one of the most exciting theatre festivals in the country. This year's line-up includes high-end performances with the likes of diverse theatre, as well as readings, music, talks, comedy and family-friendly events. Refer to the HighTide Theatre website for more information on performance times. Tickets start from £5.
The Grand Henham Steam Rally
15th - 16th September
Henham Steam Rally returns to Henham Park and continues to be a family favourite. Visitors can enjoy a historical exhibition of vintage and classic cars, steam rollers, mini traction engines and working demonstrations of agricultural machinery. Entertainment for all the family includes a vintage fairground, dog agility and heavy horse displays, a stagecoach display, Punch and Judy, marching bands, Samba drumming, kite-flying display and helicopter rides. Tickets are now on sale via the Henham Steam Rally website with a range of passes to choose from.
The Woodbridge Shuck
Saturday 22nd - Sunday 23rd September
Hosted at Whisstocks Quayside, the festival will bring pop up restaurants to The Tide Mill, seasonal market, Seafood Sunday and Shuck specials throughout various pubs and restaurants in the area. Open from 11:00 am - 16:00 pm each day, this will be one of the first opportunities for the public to view the newly developed Woodbridge waterfront.
Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival
Saturday 29th - Sunday 30th September
The Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival has fast become one of the foremost food festivals in Britain. Frequently rated as one of the UK's best food and drink festival by National media critics, the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival was started to celebrate and promote the abundance of beautiful local produce found in the Alde Valley and Suffolk coastal region. Over 100 producers take part in the two-day event, the focal point of a two-week food-related fringe programme. The popular Hill Farm Family Meadow will be at Snape again this year as will the Adnams' Drinks Experience and the Wild Suffolk area.

Red deer rut 4x4 safari at RSPB Minsmere
Saturday 29th September - Sunday 21st October
Westleton Heath in Suffolk is one of the best places to witness the amazing deer rut each year, where majestic red stags bellow and clash horns in a fierce mating battle. Red deer usually form large “harems”, and during rutting season, male stags invest most of their energy in fighting and competing with other stags to mate with their chosen hinds. Aggressive stags pumped full of testosterone can often be heard roaring loudly as they clash and lock horns and engage in a fierce mating battle. Join Minsmere's knowledgeable guides for a drive onto the rutting fields in their 4x4 vehicles for the chance to get closer to the action. These safaris provide excellent photographic opportunities, so don't forget to take your camera. Weekdays: 2 pm only. Weekends: 9 am, 11.30 am and 2 pm. Price: RSPB members £100 for up to four people. Non-members £125 for up to four people. Booking is essential for this event.
Scaresville - The Haunted Village
Wednesday 3rd October - Sunday 4th November 2018
During the month of Halloween, Kentwell Hall becomes Scaresville, The Haunted Village. An intensely spooky event, guests are invited to embark on an hours walk through the Scaresville Village where they will be met by ghouls, monsters, frights and their worst fears. If you're brave enough to take a walk through this terrifying town, tickets can be purchased via the Scaresville website. The event also offers an unfair ground, bar and escape room.
Halesworth Arts Festival
Saturday 13th - Sunday 28th October 2018
Now in its 17th year, the Halesworth Arts Festival is a celebration of music, poetry, art, photography and more. Now a major force in the arts in North Suffolk, it attracts capacity crowds every October, who come for the chance to see top quality artists in small, intimate surroundings. The HAF is run by entirely voluntary people, both on the organising committee and at the venues.

ScareTacular Southwold Maize Maze
Saturday 20th - Sunday 28th October
All the usual activities of Southwold Maize Maze with a spooky edge. Enjoy the eight acres of maize, jumping pillows, pedal go-karts, cradle nest swing, climbing tower and slide, pedal tractors/ ride ons, giant sandpit, cafe and picnic area which will be decked out in Halloween style threads. Children will love finding the ten monsters and then collecting their small prize, daily fancy dress competitions, pumpkin carving, face painting a haunted house and a fortune teller witch. There are plenty of creepy things to keep you on your toes, during Halloween week.
