If you've already booked a cottage stay in Aldeburgh or are thinking of doing so, here's a fabulous event that you may wish to take in whilst your here.

Below Charlotte Moore of the Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh tells of the spectacular performances that are set to take Aldeburgh by storm this Christmas.

A CRAG PATH CHRISTMAS brings a cast of West End performers to create a joyous celebration of everything which makes our unique seaside town so special. Wallow in the yuletide spirit and let the ghosts of Aldeburgh take you through Christmases past, present and future. Doors open 1 hour before each performance so come early and enjoy the winter wonderland of Olde Birkett’s Bar where mulled wine, local beers, juices and seasonal treats will be served.

Aldeburgh is so rich in literary and artistic associations, with George Crabbe and Benjamin Britten foremost in mind, but it also boasts an extraordinary social history too; it is set it in
Victorian times, as they really invented our version of Christmas, and it is presented by two of our most famous daughters, the redoubtable Elizabeth Garrett Anderson and her equally powerful sister, Millicent Fawcett, and includes material pertinent to this town as well as to the Festive season in general. Garrett Anderson knew Dickens well, and Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Scrooge, so he is here, along with songs, carols, music hall numbers and poems and prose from the Middle Ages to the present day, celebrating this festive time of year, but also the wonderful town of Aldeburgh. It is designed for all the family, from 4 to 104, there is something for everyone, culminating in an old fashioned sing-song.
