The village itself is on the very edge of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty giving you easy access to this stunning area. Within the village there is a good local shop, a farm shop and the popular Angel Inn. What can I do in Wangford and the surrounding area? 

Situated close to both coast and countryside, Wangford is a great base for exploring some beautiful locations such as Reydon Woods and Covehithe Beach. Many popular seaside towns are also within easy reach, such as Southwold which is approximately ten minutes’ drive away. This unique seaside town has a spectacular coastline, plenty of lovely shops, a traditional pier and charming pubs and restaurants.

You’ll find the riverside town of Beccles just a short drive away along the A145. This riverside market town has an interesting mix of shops and independent retailers. Beccles offers some lovely countryside walks including the Marsh Trail which is made up of three different walking routes. Each trail has its own character and offers walks of varying distances. If you’re visiting with the family, Beccles Lido - a traditional outdoor swimming pool - offers hours of fun during the summer months. Beccles also offers several play areas including one near to the Quay which is perfect for keeping the kids entertained.

Slightly further afield is the coastal town of Lowestoft. Blessed with sandy beaches, Lowestoft is well-worth a visit to dip your toes in the sea and wander along its shore. There are lots of family friendly activities in Lowestoft such as adventure parks, fairground rides, and fun seaside amusements. Lowestoft also hosts a number of events such as the rather quirky World Thumb Wrestling Championships.

Close by, Halesworth is within easy reach which is a pretty market town with a good selection of traditional and independent shops selling a wide range of goodies for you to choose from. The town is steeped in history from its brewing, malting and agriculture roots offering a splendid blend of historic surrounding and modern amenities.

You will also find The Cut Arts Centre which hosts a variety of great arts venue along with the Halesworth Arts Festival which is a two-week long event.
