Saxmundham Holiday Cottages

Saxmundham is an ideal base from which to discover many of the beautiful towns and villages that fall within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

Located on the River Fromus close to the Suffolk coast, Saxmundham is a traditional Suffolk market town with a good selection of independent retailers, businesses and specialist shops servicing the centre of town. Saxmundham is also well serviced by two larger supermarkets. Saxmundham's weekly market is held every Wednesday and visitors to town can park for two hours for free on market day. The market sells a fantastic selection of local fruit, vegetables and produce including fresh eggs, flowers, plants, homemade jams and chutneys, cakes and more.

Saxmundham is serviced by a regular train service from London Liverpool Street (via Ipswich), to Lowestoft, and the railway station can be found in the centre of town. There are many attractions located just a short drive away from our Saxmundham cottages including RSPB Minsmere - home of BBC's 2014 and 2015 Springwatch series and Snape Maltings. Surrounded by some truly beautiful walking trails and located on the banks of the River Alde, the Snape Maltings complex comprises a world-class concert hall, an antique shop, home and garden store, gastro-pub, café and gift shop. Both RSPB Minsmere and Snape Maltings are located approximately 7 miles away from our Saxmundham cottages.

You’ll also find the traditional village of Yoxford less than 2 miles away from our Saxmundham cottages. This village is a good starting point for a popular tourist route that heads west towards Peasenhall, past Saxtead Green Mill, through Needham market and Bildeston before arriving at the medieval “Wool Town” of Lavenham. Saxmundham is also less than 8.5 miles away from Framlingham Castle. The coastal towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold are also just a short drive away. For more information on our Saxmundham cottages don’t hesitate to call – we’re always happy to help.
