Description
Tucked away at the end of a quiet, cul-de-sac, Hideout is a peaceful retreat for four looking to rest and re-charge on this beautiful stretch of Suffolk coastline. Fully refurbished in 2019, Hideout has been given a total makeover to provide a 'one-of-a-kind' stay in the heart of the much loved coastal town of Felixstowe. Full to the brim with antique interest, Hideout combines mid-century chic with 21st century living, from the carefully selected furniture including G-Plan and re-covered leather armchairs, to the bespoke paint in the sitting room lovingly named 'Hideout Blue'. An absolute delight for those with an appreciation of the way things used to be, you too can be transported into this different world; so unlike any other self-catering cottage you will have stayed in before. An Instagram-lovers delight, this 1950s bungalow will certainly excite and delight, far more than you could ever expect. We guarantee if you choose to Hideout in Felixstowe, you'll be taking pictures for interior inspiration!
If you can bear to pull yourself away from within these fascinating four walls, you'll have plenty to do within Felixstowe. With the beach and lapping sea only a brisk 90 second walk from Hideout (on a steep downhill decline, there is a handrail), you can enjoy walking the two-mile long promenade up towards Old Felixstowe and down towards the bustling docks. Pastel painted beach huts line the way, edged by Felixstowe’s beautiful seafront gardens (recently restored), with its own panoramic tea room. The main town is also home to a number of fantastic eateries from pubs to restaurants, the superb sea facing pub The Fludyers is only a 4 minute walk from Hideout, we would recommend booking in advance as it is extremely popular with locals and tourists! Be sure to try cafe Bencotto, residing in the former firestation. or if you enjoy a stroll, why not stop for a coffee at 'Grandma's Little House', close to Landguard Fort, a pop-up beach hut charity cafe which was crowned British Beach Hut of the Year in 2017. The town pier was also fully refurbished in 2017 and is packed full of amusements as well as a sea-facing cafe.
For an instantly warm and inviting base in which to explore Felixstowe and the surrounds, we recommend putting Hideout at the very top of your list! Pub: 4 minute walk, Shop: 0.7 miles.

Much of the town of Felixstowe is only about 100 years old but Old Felixstowe has been in existence since Roman times. The town stands at the mouth of the rivers Deben and Orwell where you can enjoy fishing and sailing. There is a shingle and sand beach, a two-mile long promenade and seafront gardens as well as a theatre, cinema, bingo, golf club, and amusements. There are a number of Martello towers and a fort along this stretch of coastline, built to resist a potential invasion by Napoleon, and the whole area has many historic houses, monuments, and nature reserves to visit in the surrounding area.
