Local’s tip:A must see attraction in the Snape area: If you pop over to Leiston your time will be well spent at the Long Shop Museum. Previously known as the “Leiston Works” the Long Shop was a thriving factory from the 1700’s until the 1930’s as a significant UK producer of steam locomotives and engineered works. Today this building is a fascinating museum dedicated to UK industrial and social heritage.

There are several exhibits to take a look at including artefacts and curios which once belonged to the Leiston Works founders - the Garrett family. There are steam engines, horse drawn vehicles and carts, domestic wares, exhibits from Sizewell B, and remnants from a local WW1 Zeppelin crash site. There are also plenty of hands on exhibits for children to enjoy.
