Thorpeness Holiday Cottages
Imagine rowing your colourful little boat through swamps and jungles, avoiding crocodiles, jumping from the bow and landing on a treasure island to fight smugglers and pirates and sneaking up on unsuspecting landlubbers…
The Meare at Thorpeness is the place to visit to let your imagination run wild. A beautiful unspoilt piece of Suffolk holiday magic situated close to the popular holiday town of Aldeburgh. Created by Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie and based on his close friend J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan novel, the Meare contains a man-made lake where you can hire a whole fleet of rowing boats to fulfil the aspirations of all budding adventurers. All of this located within close distance of any of our holiday properties in Thorpeness and only a mile away from the self-catering cottages in Aldeburgh.Â
Thorpeness is home to a wonderful country club within which fledgling tennis stars and even their more mature relatives can enter regularly run tournaments throughout the summer months. Social memberships are available to purchase which enable you to access the popular barbecues and lively games nights.Â
Within walking distance from any Thorpeness property is the Thorpeness Golf Club where you can polish up your putting, choose some new slacks at the Club Shop or sit back and relax at the fantastic bar with wonderful views over the course.Â
Thorpeness is a village well designed for the self-catering holiday, with four fantastic venues to eat and drink throughout the day, the unspoilt coastline offers walkers a beautiful vista, whether looking north towards Walberswick or Southwold or south where iconic Aldeburgh landmarks stand tall on the horizon.
