Dog-Friendly Aldeburgh Guide

Beaches

Aldeburgh beach is a lovely place to be able to walk your dog during the off-peak times of the year. Dogs are regrettably not allowed on the main stretch of beach from 1st May to 30th September however for the rest of the year, they are perfectly welcome so you and your pooch can enjoy quality time by the sea at any time of the day.Sizewell beach is not far from Aldeburgh and allows dogs to roam on its sands all year round. This is perfect for people who come on holiday at peaks times and want a good walk with their beloved family pet.

Dogs Allowed

There is a lovely track from the Wentworth Hotel in Aldeburgh all the way to Thorpeness which you can walk your dog along at any time of the year, so long as they are on a lead and do not disturb the reserve that the path takes you past. Both the reserves at RSPB North Warren and Snape Warren state that dogs are allowed into the reserves as long as they are on a lead and stay on the main footpaths and bridleways. This is perfect for those who don’t want to miss out on seeing the local wildlife but cannot leave their dogs at home.

Pubs

Good news for dogs in Aldeburgh: there are many pubs in which you can visit! The Brudenell Hotel say that dogs are welcome to relax on the outside terrace if their owners are enjoying a drink after a long day walking with them. The White Hart is a cosy and dog-friendly, Adnams pub at the southern end of Aldeburgh’s High Street. Relax in the courtyard area with your hound, whilst enjoying a lunch from the chippy next door and a drink from the popular pub itself. Thankfully, for those coming at perhaps slightly chiller times of the year, the pub also allows dogs in the inside bar area of the building.  The Eels Foot Inn in Eastbridge is a short drive from Aldeburgh and is a lovely traditional, dog friendly pub, with a large garden to relax in.In Snape, dogs are welcome in the Plough and Sail, The Golden Key and The Crown Inn so a pint of local ale can be enjoyed without having to leave your beloved pet behind!
