National Trust Sutton Hoo Celebrates a Decade

Sutton Hoo in Woodbridge, Suffolk, will celebrate a decade this weekend, since this unique site was gifted to the National Trust. Set on the banks of the River Deben,  on a beautiful 255 acre estate, Sutton Hoo is famous as being the home to one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time.  Visitors are invited to stroll around this award-winning exhibition, and marvel at the ancient ship burial mounds of an Anglo-Saxon king.

There is a full-size reconstruction of the burial chamber, stunning replica treasures and original finds including a prince's sword. To mark this decade, celebrations will take place at the site on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June 2012.  This will include exciting battle re-enactments, stalls, a BBQ and a WW2 encampment replete with vintage vehicles.
