"Altitude" Open Day at The Old Water Tower, Southwold

Suffolk Secrets and So Southwold are having an open day this Sunday 8th July from 11-3pm at The Old Water Tower. Come and visit this iconic grade II listed building, and climb to the top for a great view of Southwold.

There will be a free BBQ, refreshments and we’ll also be giving out stickers to children who make it to the Top of The Tower. (Rapunzel outfits optional!) Our staff, many of whom are true Suffolk locals, will be on hand to answer your queries about our holiday cottages in Southwold and throughout Suffolk.

Suffolk Secrets has offices in Southwold and Aldeburgh. Our office in The Old Water Tower, proudly stands in the middle of Southwold Common. Built in 1890, the  original tank held 40,000 gallons of water and was powered by huge sails.  In 1937 a larger, art-deco water tower was built next door, capable of holding 150,000 gallons. The then Southwold Borough Council bought the Old Water Tower before it went into the hands of successive water companies. It was returned to the Town Council for a nominal fee of £100 in 1987.

Before Suffolk Secrets and So Southwold moved in, it had been used as a Lifeboat Museum and by Adnams. Did you know?
