Following on from the resounding success of last year’s Sixties by The Sea event, Soul by The Sea will take place in a wonderful open-air setting on Aldeburgh seafront on Saturday 5th July 2014.

This free summer extravaganza will be a foot-tapping celebration of Motown and Soul music and is a fundraiser for several local charities including Town 102 Kids’ Trust, Help an East Coast Child, and Aldeburgh United Charity, so donations are welcomed.

Taking place in a glorious beach-front setting, right opposite The White Lion Hotel, this year's line-up will feature legendary Rhythm and Blues Singer, Gino Washington. Washington was born in Indiana in 1943, but was stationed in East Anglia during the 1960s when he served with the United States Air Force. Whilst in England, Washington was a regular on the London gig-circuit and in 1965 formed a band called Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band with guitarist Pete Gage. Washington's extensive musical career has included recording 8 solo albums - two of which received critical acclaim in the 60s and were two of the biggest selling albums in the UK at that time. This legendary soul man has recorded with many other best-selling artists including The Beach Boys. Geno Washington will surely rock the seafront with his mojo mix of sixties soul and funk.

The Soul by The Sea line-up will also include The Motown Troubadours who will pay tribute to some of the world’s best loved soul groups including The Temptations and the Four Tops.  Energetic seven piece band "Soul Kitchen", will be sure to get the crowd dancing with their uplifting mixture of funk, soul and ska. Finally, Freddie B will pay tribute to some of the greatest "Soul Legends" including Luther Vandross, George Benson and Lionel Ritchie.

To keep the festival spirit strong, there will be a BBQ, food stalls, drinks marques serving champagne and beer in addition to death-defying aerial displays by the RV8tors who have promised to thrill with their dazzling displays of aerial acrobatics. This soulful and uplifting event will finish with breath-taking seafront fireworks.
