Orford Castle

Built by King Henry II, Orford Castle is a remarkable part of history for both Suffolk and England and is unusually complete. Its polygonal shape towers over Orford, remaining a unique feature to the quaint fishing village. Visitors can visit the castle and discover ancient architecture from the castle’s basement to the very top where magnificent views can be enjoyed from the roof. Upstairs you’ll also find Orford Museum where you can become a real expert on the area. Check Orford Castle’s website before visiting for opening times and prices.

A stunning, traditional village cottage, 109 Front Street is beautifully modernised to create outstanding accommodation. Its large rear garden, games room, off street parking and annexe, make it the ideal place for multi-generations of families or friends to holiday together and discover the sights of Orford.

Pump Street Bakery

Sitting pretty in pink amongst the rest of the just as pretty Orford is Pump Street Bakery. Although a gorgeous building, it’s likely you’ll smell the bakery before you see it as delicious smells of sourdough and homemade chocolate waft down the road. The bakery prides themselves on making outstanding bread and pastries every day which is showcased alongside their intimate café. Here, you can grab yourself a scrummy brunch, such as Brioche French toast with crispy bacon, banana and maple syrup, plus a great cup of coffee.

A beautifully refurbished traditional cottage in the heart of the coastal village of Orford, Pump Cottage has superb views of the castle and is just moments from Pump Street Bakery. Perfect for guests with a child or dog, or for those who enjoy walking or cycling.

Orford Ness Nature Reserve

A rare landscape, Orford Ness Nature Reserve is an incredibly important eco-system which in turn is a wonderful place for a day out. A large proportion of the world's rare coastal vegetated shingle is found here, which together with the marshland provides important habitats for a range of bird species, mammals and invertebrates. Walking or cycling is a great way to visit the nature reserve. The Suffolk Coast Path passes Orford Quay and National Cycle Network bike routes connect with Orford as they meander through the Suffolk countryside.

Stunningly converted, The Bothy overlooks the fields and saltmarshes which separate Orford from the sea. With wonderful views and large picture windows, it's the perfect location for those in need of a relaxing holiday.

Pinney’s of Orford

A family business that began in the 1950s after the second world war, Pinney’s of Orford is a traditional smokehouse which supplies sustainably caught, delicious fish, oysters and shellfish. Both a restaurant and a shop, the relaxed and informal approach is evident at this charming establishment. The oysters are the star of the show, which are farmed at Butley Creek and have been for the past seventy years. We recommend the fish pie from the menu, and the smoked salmon from the shop, which is perfect for breakfast at your self-catering holiday cottage.

For couples wanting to enjoy some fine cuisine, Daphne Cottage is an early Victorian, grade 2 listed cottage in the heart of Woodbridge. The ideal accommodation for a couple or two friends seeking fantastic surroundings, great food and wonderful coastal walks.
