Here’s a few our favourite pubs that either accept dogs in their outdoor/garden area or in the inside bar. As pub landlords change from time to time, it’s always worth checking in advance to see if your four-legged friend is still welcome at this small selection of Suffolk pubs.
The Greyhound Pub
Phoenix House, 97 High Street, Lavenham, CO10 9PZA busy and friendly pub situated right on Lavenham’s beautiful high street. Dogs are welcome in the bar area but not in the restaurant. A doggie water bowl is usually available. The Greyhound is the perfect place for a relaxed lunch, a pint of the local brew or an afternoon cuppa.
The Dove
68 Hospital Road, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 3JUThe Dove is a welcoming pub that is a hit with locals and visitors alike. It serves a selection of locally brewed ales including Woodfordes Wherry Bitter and Elgoods Cambridge Ale. With wooden floors throughout the bar area, there’s lots of room for your dog to relax and stretch out on. During warmer weather, sit outside and watch the world go by. Dog biscuits and water bowls usually available. Warning: gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights!
Swan Inn
Low Street, Hoxne, Suffolk, IP21 5ASA character-filled and welcoming Suffolk pub which is child and dog-friendly! The owners also have dogs who are often found contentedly lying by the fire (the dogs not the owners!). The Swan offers good food and a great selection of beers, wines and local ales. Dogs are welcomed in the garden and in bar area but not in the dining area. Dog bowls are available on request.
