Dog-Friendly Guide Suffolk Coast & Heaths

The good news is that dogs are allowed on the coastal path throughout the year, there is no seasonal dog ban on the beaches in most places. However they have to be kept on a lead during the birds breeding season because the parts of the route are protected.There is a lovely walk that is totally dog friendly starting from Dunwich beach carpark, trailing up the hill leading towards Greyfriars ruins. It’s best to check with the National Trust visitor centre at Dunwich Heath when the breeding seasons are, so you can be sure your dog is safe to be running about.

Pubs for poochesThe Ship at Dunwich is a welcoming pet friendly pub, which means you can spend the day with your beloved pet and not have to worry about taking them home before you visit the pub at the end of your walk. The Westleton Crown is also pet friendly, so if you fancied taking one of the aforementioned walks, you can take your dog with you to either pub! On the subject of Westleton, the White Horse Inn also gives a warm welcome to dogs.The Blaxhall Ship is also a dog friendly pub, so no need to worry about leaving your pooch behind when going out for a stroll around the Suffolk countryside.
