The Suffolk Herring Festival taking place 26th -27th October 2013 in Middleton, is a two-day celebration of the humble herring. The event falls within the October half term week and coincides with the herring fisheries autumn peak.

What image is conjured up in your mind when you think of the humble, pickled egg?  British pubs, beer and crisps? Fish and chips shops with bottles of brown liquid lining the counters, containing strange “brain-like” specimens?
